SUNDAY OR WEDNESDAY. - AMMAN (36.5 KM)
Arrival at Queen Alia International Airport- Meet and assist with visa formalities. Exit to the hall – Transfer to Hotel.
MONDAY OR THURSDAY. - AMMAN – AJLUN – JERASH – DEAD SEA – AMMAN (240 KM)
Breakfast – depart to Ajloun, the Islamic castle Ajloun stands on top of 1123 meter high Jabel Auf. It was built in 1185 by the famous General Sultan Salah Ad-din to protect the country against the Crusader attacks and to secure the pilgrim routes & was re-built on XIII century after Mongol destruction. Continue driving to the one of Decapolis Cities, Jerash, the best example of a Roman provincial city in the Middle East, which is only 50 km north of Amman. Jerash was built by Alexander the Great in 332BC and started to prosper after the Roman conquest in 63BC. The Artemis Temple, the theatres, the Colonnaded Street and many other ancient buildings give you the feeling of the great civilization and the history of the region. End of day tour, return back to Amman. Overnight.
FRIDAY OR MONDAY. - WADI RUM – Transfer to Amman Airport
After breakfast, transfer to Amman Airport
TUESDAY.- AMMAN - PANORAMIC CITY TOUR – BETANY – MADABA – MT. NEBO - PETRA (340Km)
(For Wednesday's departure, guests will visit Umm ar-Rasas instead of Bethany.)
Meet at the hotel and depart for a panoramic tour of Amman. At the scheduled time, depart for the border with Israel and Palestine, heading towards the Jordan River. This day will be dedicated to visiting one of Jordan's most mystical and spiritual sites. We will visit Bethany, the place where Jesus was baptized by Saint John the Evangelist. The Jordanian site of Bethany was opened to visitors in 2000, and Pope John Paul II attended its inauguration as a sign of recognition by the Vatican. Baptism of Jesus Site "Bethany Beyond the Jordan" (Al-Maghtas) This archaeological site, located on the east bank of the Jordan River, about 9 km north of the Dead Sea, is of immense importance to Christianity because it is recognized as the place where Jesus of Nazareth was baptized by John the Baptist. Continue to Madaba to visit the Orthodox Church of St. George, home to the first mosaic map of Palestine. Continue to Mount Nebo to admire the panoramic view of the Jordan Valley and the Dead Sea from the mountain. This site is significant because it was the last place visited by Moses and from where the prophet glimpsed the Promised Land, which he would never reach. Transfer to Petra. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
WEDNESDAY OR SATURDAY. - LITTLE PETRA – PETRA – AQABA (125 KM)
Breakfast, and departure to the nearby town of Al BEIDA, also known as LITTLE PETRA. Visit of this caravanserais. Back to Petra. Day dedicated to the visit of the pink city, the capital of the Nabateans. During the visit, we will get to know the most important and representative monuments carved in the rock by the Nabateans. We start with The Treasury, a famous and internationally known monument made into a film in one of the Indiana Jones movies, the Colored Tombs, the Royal Tombs, the Monastery... Petra is one of those places in the world where at least there are to go once in a lifetime. Then proceed to Aqaba..
THURSDAY OR SUNDAY. - AQABA – WADI RUM (69.7 KM)
Breakfast. Free time to enjoy the city of Aqaba. Stroll through the market, enjoy a morning at the beach, etc...Included in the program we have planned a relaxing morning on the Tala Bay beach, at the Berenice club or similar) where we can make use of its facilities, pool or sea , showers and towels and a Lunch (drinks not included). In the early afternoon, departure to Wadi Rum, one of the most important nature reserves in the Middle East. We are in the desert of Lawrence of Arabia. The visit lasts two hours, and is carried out in peculiar 4 x 4 vehicles driven by Bedouins, (6 people per car) and consists of a small foray into the lunar landscape of this desert. On our walk we will observe the wonders that nature has done and the erosion with rocks and sand. Also famous in cinema, with filming of enigmatic films, such as Lawrence of Arabia or lately The Martian. At the end of the visit, continue to the Bedouin camp where you will spend the night under the stars.
